Skygod.com?

The dumb domain name reflects what friends tell me is my sense of humour. What they say behind my back I don't know. The intention is not to make fun of your God, but a little joke about personalized license plates and pilot egos. Skygod is a common expression amongst aviators with, shall we say, no self-esteem problems. It's also real popular with folks that jump out of airplanes. And the name could be worse—Budd Davidson runs a great aviation site at airbum.com!

"Ever since humans began forging covenants with powerful deities in the sky, we have sought to connect our earthly existence to a higher realm. . . . The fact that in our thirst for ascension, we have co-opted angelic intermediaries, ecstatic transports, astral planes, and other analogues of Jacob's ladder, and you might say that as a species we have indulged in a kind of perpetual Space Age dreaming, where traveling upward and traveling toward enlightenment are one and the same."

— Marina Benjamin, Rocket Dreams, 2003.
